COURSE OVERVIEW

Fashion Marketing is a dynamic course designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to promote, distribute, and sell fashion products effectively in the ever-evolving global marketplace. The course explores the intersection of fashion, business, and consumer behavior, focusing on how marketing strategies can be used to build successful fashion brands and drive sales.

UNIT STRUCTURE

This course is divided into 5 digitized modules; each module takes 2 hours to complete. The modules have interactive activities and assignments for the learners to undertake. This is a self-paced course that requires you to find an appropriate place and time to interact with the content.

Course Description:
This course provides trainees with fundamental knowledge of textiles, focusing on the science, properties, and behavior of fibers, yarns, and fabrics. It explores the classification, production, and characteristics of natural, regenerated, synthetic, and blended fibers, as well as their performance in garment construction and design.

Trainees will study the processes of spinning, weaving, knitting, and fabric finishing, along with methods of fabric identification and testing. Emphasis is placed on understanding fabric performance, care, and suitability for different end uses. The course also highlights recent innovations in textile technology, including sustainable and eco-friendly materials.

By the end of the course, trainees will be able to identify various textile fibers, evaluate fabric qualities, select appropriate materials for specific garments, and apply scientific principles to improve textile performance and sustainability.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, the trainee should be able to:

  1. Classify textile fibers according to their origin and properties.

  2. Describe the processes involved in yarn and fabric production.

  3. Identify and test textile materials based on physical and chemical characteristics.

  4. Select appropriate fabrics for specific garment types and functions.

  5. Apply proper care, maintenance, and storage techniques for textiles.

  6. Demonstrate awareness of sustainable and innovative trends in textile production.

This course introduces trainees to the principles and practices of organising, managing, and operating industrial enterprises effectively. It focuses on the structure and functions of industrial organisations, management processes, and the role of effective leadership in achieving productivity and efficiency in the workplace.

Trainees will explore topics such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling industrial operations. The course also covers aspects of communication, motivation, supervision, quality control, and human relations in industrial settings. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, ethical decision-making, occupational safety, and sustainable industrial practices.

By the end of the course, trainees will be able to apply management principles to real industrial situations, coordinate production activities efficiently, and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within their work environments.

This unit covers the competencies required to design and construct ladies’ wear. It involves planning for design and construction of various ladies’ garments; designing, sketching and illustrating selected ladies’ garments, constructing ladies garment pattern pieces. It also entails laying and cutting ladies garment pieces, constructing and finishing ladies’ garments, accessorizing and displaying ladies’ garments and developing a ladies’ wear portfolio.

This standard applies in Fashion industry.
